LG Household & Health Care develops recyclable, durable single-material refill pouches

LG Household & Health Care (LG H&H), in collaboration with LG Chem, has developed a large-capacity refill pouch made from a single polyethylene (PE) material that improves recyclability and durability. The new pouch replaces hard-to-recycle multi-layer materials with a PE-only structure, simplifying sorting and recycling. The companies applied an ultra-thin 14µm packaging film called ‘UNIQABLE™’ to achieve strength suitable for 2-liter pouches while maintaining the feel and performance of conventional multi-material films. UNIQABLE™ boosts recycling rates without sacrificing functionality, supporting LG H&H’s ESG and plastic circular economy plans. The company plans to expand use cases for the pouch and continue developing eco-friendly packaging solutions.
