Kim Geun-tae, a prominent Korean artist known as 'Dolgaru,' holds a solo exhibition at Leeahn Gallery in Seoul. Graduating from Chung-Ang University in Painting, Kim has focused on 'Discussion' as a recurring theme in his works, using stone powder and rubber to create unique textures reminiscent of pottery surfaces. Influenced by his encounters with Western art, particularly the self-portraits of Rembrandt, Kim has shifted from Western modernism to exploring Korean cultural and historical elements. His artworks combine heavy oil pigments and the materials inspired by Korean ceramics, expressing complex narratives beyond visual representations. The exhibition runs until April 30, aiming to spark discussion through art that challenges perceptions and provokes thought.
