Yeongwon Outdoor’s The North Face (노스페이스) kept annual sales above 1 trillion won for the second straight year, rising about 5.1% to 1.0564 trillion won in 2025. Growth was driven by heritage items like the Nupsi (눕시) down jacket, a global long-seller since 1992, and lightweight padding that became a wardrobe staple—some models even traded at resale prices up to three times retail. The White Label line showed broad gains across categories, and the “mini-me look” trend helped kids’ sales. The brand is expanding beyond mountain gear into running and lifestyle footwear with VECTIV trail running shoes and planned road running models. Climate shifts favoring lighter outerwear also supported demand. While The North Face positions itself as an everyday fashion brand beyond outdoor use, other domestic outdoor makers face decline: Eider’s sales fell about 4.6% to 223.1 billion won, and K2 Korea’s sales and operating profit dipped year-on-year. Industry observers warn of growing polarization (양극화) in the outdoor sector, where a few brands capture growth while others stagnate or shrink.
