BTS topped the US Billboard Hot 100 with “Swim,” the lead single from their fifth full album Arirang, marking the group’s seventh Hot 100 No.1. The achievement follows Arirang reaching No.1 on the Billboard 200, giving BTS simultaneous dominance of both main Billboard singles and albums charts. Billboard reported “Swim” also debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts, bringing BTS’s total Global chart-toppers to eight. With seven Hot 100 No.1s, BTS ranks fifth among groups historically, behind The Beatles, The Supremes, the Bee Gees, and The Rolling Stones. As a K-pop (Korean pop) group composed entirely of Korean members, BTS remains the only such group to have a Hot 100 No.1; only solo BTS members Jimin and Jungkook have also reached No.1 as soloists. “Swim,” an alternative pop track co-written by leader RM, carries a message about moving forward through life’s waves.
