Gyeonggi Arts Center will run 'Feel Korea: Gugak experience' weekly from mid-April to November at the Gyeonggi National Gugak Center. The 70-minute program blends live gugak performances (featuring instruments like haegeum and daegeum) and participatory traditional-culture activities so foreign audiences can actively learn and enjoy rather than just watch. Visitors will hear familiar melodies reinterpreted in gugak, try folk-song rhythms, play traditional games such as tuho and beonadoligi (throwing games), and take photos in royal costumes and props. This year introduces a live English-speaking 'Gugak Narrator'—performers explain pieces and guide sing-alongs in English to boost understanding and immersion. The route from theater to lobby and outdoor spaces is organized to ease flow, with indoor alternatives for bad weather. Gyeonggi Arts Center aims for the program to serve as an approachable entry to Korean traditional arts for international audiences and expand how traditional culture meets modern cultural consumption.
