Despite being in March, a time typically associated with spring, ski resorts in Gangwon, South Korea, saw significant numbers of visitors enjoying the last of the winter snow. On March 9th, High1 Resort in Jeongseon, for example, hosted 2,288 skiers. Similarly, Phoenix Park in Pyeongchang counted around 1,800 visitors, while Elysian Gangchon Resort in Chuncheon marked its last day of the skiing season with 300 visitors. Meanwhile, springtime tourism was thriving in other areas of Gangwon. The Ganhyeon tourist site in Wonju attracted 5,267 visitors, largely due to the newly opened cable car in Sogeumsan Grand Valley. Popular mountains like Odaesan saw thousands of visitors for spring hiking, and various local Confucian academies conducted traditional spring ceremonies known as 'Chungiseokjeon.' During this time, visitors can experience both snow-filled slopes and blossoming landscapes.
