7-Eleven Korea announced it will roll out ready-to-make smoothies, a hit item from Japan, across its stores after more than a year of localization and testing. The chain imported the specialized smoothie machines from Japan in December 2024 and has been optimizing mixing time, blade speed and blade height for each flavor to preserve texture and taste; the machines also feature automatic blade cleaning for hygiene. Initially three flavors will launch: Strawberry Banana, Mango, and Berry Yogurt (the latter includes yogurt cubes — a first for Korean convenience stores). Each smoothie is under 100 kcal. The move aims to strengthen 7-Eleven’s edge in the ready-to-eat market, where the brand has been a pioneer since opening Korea’s first 7-Eleven in 1989. The product gained early attention in Korea after a celebrity streamed it, and similar character-collab smoothies (e.g., Chiikawa (치이카와)) were popular among Japanese travelers.
