Mona Hatoum's First Solo Exhibition in Korea Questions Everyday SafetyCreatrip Team
9 months ago
Contemporary artist Mona Hatoum is holding her first solo exhibition in Korea, exploring themes of uncertainty and the safety of everyday items. Her works transform ordinary objects into unsettling pieces, prompting viewers to question if what they consider safe is truly reliable. This is reflected in pieces such as a barbed-wire partition and a stainless steel wheelchair with blade-like handles, showcased at the White Cube gallery in Seoul. Hatoum, originally from Palestine and now a British national, uses her personal experiences to invite audiences to reflect on insecurity and instability in their surroundings. The exhibition runs until April 12.
