The Jogye Order Social Welfare Foundation, celebrating its 30th anniversary, announced plans to expand the popular 'I Am Going to the Temple' program. This initiative involves temple stays (a type of cultural experience where participants stay in Buddhist temples) aimed at single men and women, helping to facilitate connections among participants. In the previous year, the program recorded 3,400 applicants, with 160 participants and 33 couples formed. Five of these couples are reportedly still together. The foundation's director, Ven. Myojang, aims to broaden the program's scope, including foreign participants living in Korea with intentions of marriage. Beyond this program, the foundation has been involved in numerous social welfare activities since 1995, such as supporting children with serious illnesses. Ven. Myojang emphasized their commitment to making social welfare more inclusive and comprehensive.
