Baek Jong-won, a renowned chef and CEO of The Born Korea, made a surprise visit to one of his franchise restaurants, 'Hong Kong Banjum 0410'. During his visit, he expressed disappointment after tasting a dish called 'jjamppong' (a spicy seafood noodle soup), claiming "This is not our jjamppong." To ensure an unbiased experience, his team ordered the food without revealing his identity beforehand. Baek found the original jjamppong to be lacking in flavor, prompting him to instruct the kitchen to remake it. The revised dish met his standards, showcasing what he considered authentic jjamppong taste. Following the incident, staff from the parent company provided re-training for the restaurant's employees. The Born Korea, which operates multiple dining brands and was once buoyed by the Netflix show 'Black and White Chef', is currently experiencing a downturn in stock prices.
