Yeongam County in Jeollanam-do is promoting longer stays by linking food offerings and nighttime "moonlight" cultural content. Wangin Park now features a restaurant run by presidential chef Cheon Sang-hyun, drawing visitors even on weekdays and benefiting nearby shops. The county launched a "vacant-shop filling project" to open locally themed eateries (e.g., Jangsan-ri Butcher, Chon Restaurant, Moridam) and designated Dokcheon Octopus Street as a South Jeolla food street to improve environment and programming. Beyond one-time visits, Yeongam aims to create memorable food-focused tourist experiences and strengthen evening attractions around Mt. Wolchul (the mountain known for its rising moon) by combining night tourism with arts, performances, exhibitions and festivals to boost neighborhood spending and encourage repeat visits and settlement.
