The 17th Pyeongchang Trout Festival, held from January 9 for one month in Jinbu-myeon, Pyeongchang, attracted about 250,000 visitors—around 20,000 more than last year—and generated roughly ₩2.2 billion in revenue. Attendees enjoyed ice and tent fishing, snow sledding, snow rafting, and hands-on trout tasting. The festival created an estimated 4,320 temporary jobs during the event and over 5,000 jobs when including pre- and post-event work. For the fourth consecutive year, it was named a representative 우수축제 (excellent festival) by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, recognized for diverse programming and strong local leadership. Although the festival officially ended, organizers are offering free fishing (자유 낚시) at the site through Feb. 16 to continue serving visitors.
