Goo House Museum Unveils 2025 Acquisitions: 'Art Is for Sharing, Not Owning'

Goo House Museum in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, is opening its 2025 new acquisitions show, 'Ownership × Sharing — Goo House 2025 New Acquisitions,' running from April 25 to May 31. Director Goo Jeong-sun, a collector and entrepreneur known from TV’s 'Neighborhood Millionaire' (이웃집 백만장자), emphasizes that art should be shared rather than simply owned. The exhibition highlights the public role of private museum collections and mixes works by modern masters (e.g., Louise Bourgeois), established and emerging Korean artists (including Kim Soo-ja, Shin Sung-hee, Yang Hye-kyu, and younger names like Kim Yoon-young and Park Se-eun), and expanded geographic reach with Asian artists such as Maharani Mankanagara (Indonesia) and Naresh Kumar (India). The museum frames its collection as an ongoing process of sharing and supports contemporary artists’ development while reminding audiences of the civic responsibilities private museums can hold.
