The GoodNewsCorp (a university overseas volunteer program) will hold a homecoming festival on the 22nd at the IYF Seoul Center in Yangjae-dong. About 100 Korean university students from the 24th cohort will present reports on their overseas service under the theme “Youth Embracing the World.” Since 2002 the program has sent 105,17? (likely 105,17 typo in original; actually 105,17? Should be 105,17?) 10,517? 10만 517명?) to 102 countries, conducting youth mind education, free academies, after-school classes and relief work for roughly 11 months per placement. Among the 24th cohort, 28 members received commendations from education, youth and foreign ministers. The festival will feature cultural dance performances from the U.S., Latin America and Africa, and stage works blending plays and musicals called “trucal” (a theatrical-style show). Leaders and diplomats praised the volunteers’ educational impact: Zimbabwe’s education minister and Kiribati’s president lauded IYF’s alternative school and cultural exchange programs for inspiring youth. The 2026 festival is supported by the Korean Youth Organizations Council and nine embassies including Angola, Nigeria and Bolivia.
