The 25th Daegu City Calligraphy Exhibition awarded the grand prize to Kim Tae-ho for his work 'Poem of Toegye' (Korean classical scholar) in Chinese semi-cursive script. Yoo Ae-ra won the top prize in Hangul calligraphy, and three excellence awards went to Kim Byung-chan (seal script), Park Soo-gyu (clerical script), and Lee Sung-song (regular script). The Daegu branch of the Korean Calligraphers Association received 410 entries and selected 164 prizewinning works after judging. The jury highlighted the balance of traditional depth and contemporary sensibility, evaluating stroke accuracy, compositional stability, classical interpretation, and artistic individuality. This year the branch will not hold a physical exhibition; instead it will publish a hardcover catalog (announced as a 'dogrok'—book/catalog) featuring photos and descriptions of the winning works and distribute it free to winners. Entry fees were significantly reduced to improve accessibility for emerging and young artists.
