Hong Kong Tourism Board, in partnership with the Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI), has released “Taste Hong Kong,” a culinary guide featuring 250 restaurants across the city recommended by about 50 master chefs who completed CCI programs. The selection spans traditional long-established eateries (nopo; 오래된 가게), noodle shops, trendy cafés, luxury hotel restaurants and Michelin-starred fine dining. Rather than ranking by popularity, the guide focuses on everyday local food culture—neighborhood dining spots like dai pai dong (open-air food stalls) and cha chaan teng (tea restaurants)—to give visitors a more authentic experience. Renowned chefs including Adam Wong (Forum Restaurant) and Lee Man Sing (Mott 32 group) contributed, emphasizing Hong Kong’s culinary heritage, consistency, and food sincerity. The guide is available on an official website with regional videos and maps, as an e-book, and via QR codes at MTR stations, bus stops and tourist signs; promotional videos will play at major attractions, malls and hotels.
