An extensive Tasha Tudor exhibition opens at Lotte Museum in Seoul, marking the first large-scale Asian retrospective for the beloved American children’s author and gardener on her 110th birth anniversary. The show gathers about 190 works—original illustrations, watercolors, drawings, handmade dolls and first editions of around 30 books including 1 is One and Mother Goose—while recreating Tudor’s garden, kitchen and greenhouse so visitors can stroll, sit in a rocking chair and experience the 19th-century pastoral life she embodied. Tudor, who tended a 990,000 m² Vermont homestead and raised animals while making butter and baking bread by hand, is celebrated for her idyllic scenes of nature, children and corgis. The exhibition also touches on the tougher side of her life—childhood family breakup, later divorce and family disputes over her estate—prompting reflection on the meaning of happiness. A highlight reel and a re-screening of the 2018 documentary “Tasha Tudor” are available. The show runs through next month 15; adult admission is 20,000 KRW.
