Korea Youth Ballet Stars to stage 13th annual concert on the 28th at Seoul Arts Center’s Doam Hall. The youth company, which trains national ballet talents and aims to globalize Korean ballet, will feature Yom Da-yeon (염다연) — winner of 2nd place and the audience prize at the 54th Lausanne Ballet Competition — dancing the Black Swan pas de deux with Yang Jun-young from the National Ballet. Guest artists include Konstantin Novoselov (Universal Ballet) and former Spanish National Ballet soloist Lee Eun-su, plus Korea Youth Ballet Stars members Kim Ha-eun and Lee So-eun. National Gugak Orchestra to present a “Noon Concert” on the 5th at the National Theater’s Haeoreum Hall: a morning ‘gugak brunch concert’ with commentary. Actor Yoon Hyung-ryul will sing numbers from the musicals Notre-Dame de Paris and Frankenstein and perform a gugak arrangement of Kim Kwang-seok’s “A Story of an Elderly Couple.” The program also includes PSY’s “Champion,” Mongolian composer Me. Birva’s “Sound of Hooves,” and a geomungo concerto “Anjungji-eum,” conducted by deputy conductor Choi Dong-ho and narrated by announcer Lee Geum-hee. Seoul Gyobang’s six-dancer recital “Gonghwa — Flower Blooming in Emptiness” runs Nov. 13–14 at Namsan Gugakdang Crown Hall. Six veteran dancers trained under master Kim Gyeong-ran will perform traditional dances such as minsalpurim, gu-eum sword dance, and seungmu. (gugak: traditional Korean music)
