National Science Museum Opens Exhibition Linking Korea’s World Cup History to ICT Evolution

The National Science Museum in Seoul is hosting a special exhibition, “Horse-Year World Cup: Korea Connected by Signals — from Radio Broadcasts to 6G and AI,” running from the 13th through next month’s 29th. The show traces Korean information and communication technology (ICT) development using World Cup milestones, beginning with Korea’s first World Cup appearance in 1954 and its radio broadcasts, and moving through 1978, 1990, 2002 and up to 2026. Historic artifacts from the museum’s collection — including Korea’s first black-and-white TV and an analog mobile phone — are on display. Separately, the Ministry of Science and ICT held a future policy forum with major scientific societies and research institutes to establish a sustained policy communication channel and expand a bio policy platform run by the National Center for BioPolicy (국가생명공학정책연구센터) to better integrate bio research into policymaking.
