The National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives (Suhyup) is easing Lunar New Year food prices by releasing government-stocked seafood and running large discounts online. Suhyup increased government-stored supplies (mackerel, croaker, etc.) to about 13,000 tons and will supply them to traditional markets, supermarkets, and wholesale markets at up to 50% below market prices through Feb. 15. Suhyup chair Roh Dong-jin visited Noryangjin Fish Market to check distribution, buy offerings, and give goodie bags to 500 vendors. Noryangjin is also running a refund event returning up to 30% in Onnuri gift certificates (a government-supported traditional market voucher) for purchases through Feb. 14. Online, Suhyup’s shopping mall is holding a Lunar special sale until Feb. 22 with weekly 20% coupons (up to KRW 20,000) plus store discounts — some sets such as Wando abalone gift sets are up to 60% off, and other premium items (large tilefish, hairtail, freshwater eel, dried yellow croaker gift sets) are offered at around 40–50% discounts. A separate Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries–supported sale also offers popular gift sets at up to 50% off.
