CJ CheilJedang CEO Yoon Seok-hwan warned employees that the company is “standing on the edge” after a net loss last year and announced a full-scale restructuring. In a company-wide message titled “There is no ‘acceptable tomorrow’ for us,” Yoon said recent losses are a survival warning, not a one-time setback, and pledged “destructive change and innovation” to remake the business. He outlined three priorities: optimize the business portfolio by exiting unprofitable lines and concentrating on high-growth, cash-generating areas such as Global Strategic Products (GSP) for K-food expansion; fundamentally improve the financial structure with a focus on cash flow, zero-base review of budgets and R&D spending, and aggressive monetization of non-core assets; and transform corporate culture into a performance-driven, survival-focused organization. The CEO stressed that modest tweaks won’t suffice and vowed decisive action, saying the discomfort now could secure future survival. The company reported last year’s sales (excluding CJ Logistics) of KRW 17.7549 trillion and an operating profit of KRW 861.2 billion, with sales down 0.6% and operating profit down 15.2% year-on-year.
