Jeonju City Council in North Jeolla Province has passed an ordinance to promote and support food tourism, leveraging the city’s rich culinary resources. The measure, proposed by councilor Lee Bosun, sets out a basic plan, support programs, possible delegated tasks, and the establishment and roles of a Food Tourism Promotion Committee, as well as frameworks for interagency cooperation. Officials say Jeonju’s cuisine should be more than heritage—it should become a core tourism asset that drives culture, industry, and local economic revitalization through increased visitor attraction.
