Los Angeles is gearing up for a 39-day citywide celebration around the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with large public viewing sites from Venice Beach to Union Station and a FIFA Fan Festival at the LA Memorial Coliseum (콜리세움) June 11–15. The LA Tourism Board released a “39-day fan experience” guide and “26 reasons to visit,” highlighting sports-driven excitement from stars like Son Heung-min and Shohei Ohtani, pop-up dining including chef René Redzepi’s Noma (노마) for several months, and citywide events such as Dine LA and major sports calendars. New cultural venues—DATALAND (an AI art museum), the Lucas narrative museum (루카스 서사 미술 박물관), and the David Geffen Gallery at LACMA—will open, while infrastructure upgrades like LAX’s automated people mover (APM) and the Metro D Line extension will improve access. Economic analysts estimate about $1.1 billion in total regional economic impact, with funds directed partly to local nonprofits and youth soccer clinics.
