Jeju Air Returns to Profit in Q4, Shows Resilience

Jeju Air reported a Q4 operating profit of KRW 18.6 billion, returning to black after five quarters. Q4 revenue rose 5.4% to KRW 474.6 billion, though full-year 2024 revenue fell 18.4% to KRW 1.58 trillion with an annual operating loss of KRW 110.9 billion. The carrier credited performance improvements to a younger fleet mix—adding two B737-8s and returning an older aircraft—which cut fuel costs (about 19% lower fuel expenses in the first three quarters versus 2024) and to more efficient route planning, including increased flights on Incheon–Osaka and new China routes. Jeju Air plans measured growth—adding seven next-generation aircraft while retiring aged planes—asset sales to bolster liquidity, digital transformation using AI (인공지능), and strengthened safety and core operational investments. Passenger numbers rose strongly in January, supporting expectations of continued improvement in Q1.
