Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894), a celebrated English writer, is known for his masterpieces 'Treasure Island' (1883) about pirates and hidden treasures, and 'Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde' (1886) which explores human nature's duality. Despite his frail health, he traveled extensively for recuperation and found inspiration for his works. His novel characters and themes have significantly impacted later literature and psychology. Stevenson spent his final years in Samoa, where locals honored him as a storyteller ('tusitala').
