The Korean pavilion from the 19th Venice Biennale of Architecture is on display in Seoul at Arko Art Center through April 5. The show, titled 'Ttukkeoba Ttukkeoba: Time of Home,' was curated by CAC (a team of Korean curators) and features works by architects Kim Hyunjong, Park Hee-chan, Yang Yena and Lee Dami. The original Venice run drew a record 174,230 visitors—about 55% of the Biennale’s total audience—and was highlighted by Monocle as a must-see pavilion. For the Seoul presentation the works and archives have been reconfigured for the gallery space: Kim’s rooftop “New Voyage” (originally a stainless-steel sail-like structure) is represented with images, text and models; Park’s multi-unit “Time of Trees” uses transparent walls, shadow sensors, cameras and mobile benches to blend indoor and outdoor experiences; Yang’s imagined space beneath the pavilion ("Pavilion Under: Thirty Million Years") and Lee’s installations that give voice to nearby trees and cats are also included. The exhibition includes an archive of the pavilion’s history and related programs such as talks with the curators and artists.
