Pulmuone Museum Kimchikan will run its signature community program, “Kimchi School,” free for 8,500 people in 2026, expanding participation by 1,000 from last year. Since 2015 the museum’s free kimchi workshops have introduced about 70,000 visitors to Korean kimchi and the kimjang (communal kimchi-making) tradition. Programs include: monthly “Children’s Kimchi School” (ages 6–13) with hands-on lessons, ingredient exploration, kimchi-making and exhibit tours; a Korean-language “Foreigners’ Kimchi School” (March–September) for groups of at least 16 Korean-speaking foreign residents; a “2030 Kimchi School” in October for MZ generation participants to try both traditional and creative kimchis using seasonal ingredients; accessibility-focused sessions for people with disabilities (April–October) using braille recipe cards and sign-language video guides; and a “Senior Kimchi School” in June promoting healthy eating for those 60+. All participants take home their kimchi in museum containers and receive museum admission and guided exhibit tours. The museum expanded the program to help more people learn and spread kimchi and kimjang culture during its 40th anniversary year.
