Chanel Picks Korean Media Artist Kim A-young to Explore AI-Driven Futures

Kim A-young, a South Korean media artist known as a “storyteller who reconstructs order,” has gained global recognition for using AI and other technologies to expand artistic possibilities. After studying visual design and later fine arts in the UK, Kim blended video, VR, games, and AI to reinterpret human experience and contemporary issues. Their work has been shown at major institutions including MoMA and M+, and they were the first Korean winner of the LG Guggenheim Award. Recently, Chanel named Kim among ten contemporary artists selected by the brand. Kim’s pieces will also appear in March at the Artsonje Center in Seoul in the large queer group exhibition “Spectrosynthesis Seoul,” which features international artists like Mark Bradford.
