Artist-musician-actor Baek Hyun-jin (54), known from 1st-generation indie band Eoeob Project and recent TV roles, opens a solo exhibition “Seoul Syntax” at PKM Gallery in Samcheong-ro. The show (March 4–21, free) presents about 30 paintings and drawings—worked on partly during a stay in Norway—characterized by sparse, free lines on unprimed traditional Korean paper (jangji) and literary titles like “Pause” and “Midsummer.” Baek says music, visual art, and acting are equal professions for him: income from acting funds the freedom to paint, and art success sustains his music. His multidisciplinary approach—described by Colombian artist Andrés Solano as “singing like painting, acting like singing, painting like acting”—reflects a long career from Hongik University art circles and the indie scene to film, TV, and international exhibitions. The exhibition also includes a video piece featuring actress Han Ye-ri capturing twilight moods around Seoul.
