Walnut Oil Gains Attention as a Healthy, Flavorful Addition to Meals

As the “Slow Aging” trend grows in Korea, walnut oil is emerging in food and beauty circles for its antioxidant-rich profile and pleasant nutty aroma. Rich in omega-3s (including EPA and DHA), walnut oil may support heart and brain health, help lower triglycerides, reduce inflammation, and possibly aid memory and concentration. Its vitamin E and polyphenols can benefit skin and scalp care, and it’s being used as a natural hair/scalp oil to help with dryness and maintain melanin-related hair health. Culinary uses include finishing salads (pairing well with arugula/rocket and chicory), drizzling over pasta as an affordable alternative to truffle oil, or substituting for butter in baking; because its smoke point is low (about 160–170°C), it’s best added at the end of cooking. Walnut oil is calorie-dense, so small amounts (about 1/2 teaspoon daily) are recommended; choose cold-pressed varieties, store away from light, and consume within three months of opening. People with nut allergies should avoid it and consult a doctor before use.
