At the 68th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, the K-pop song “Golden” from Netflix’s animated series K-Pop Demon Hunters won Best Song Written for Visual Media, marking the first Grammy win for a K-pop song. The award honors songwriters for music created for film, TV, or games. Producers and songwriters honored include Teddy (Korean-American), EJAE (Lee Jae), twoeight (To8/Seo Jung-hoon), and IDO (Lee Yu-han, Kwak Jung-gyu, Nam Hee-dong). “Golden,” widely popular alongside the hit series, reached No.1 eight times on the US Billboard Hot 100. Artists such as Rosé (for “APT.”) and the multinational girl group CATS EYE were nominated in multiple categories but did not win. The New York Times described the win as finally quenching a long-standing Grammy void for K-pop. (K-pop Demon Hunters: Netflix animated series; twoeight: stage name of composer Seo Jung-hoon)
