Daegu Gansong Museum refreshed its permanent galleries, unveiling 31 collections (40 works) including paintings, calligraphy and ceramics from Korea’s late Joseon masters. Highlights include the first public display of Owon Jang Seung-up’s Saminmun-nyeon (三人問年), a painting likely used as a protective New Year talisman (sehwa), and new panels from Hyewon Shin Yun-bok’s famed album (a national treasure). Galleries present auspicious animal paintings — tigers, phoenixes, hawks — intended to ward off misfortune, plus ceramics from the “Gatsby Collection” of Goryeo celadon. The museum also added immersive videos reinterpreting the Four Gentlemen (sagunja) and upgraded a visible restoration room explaining pigments used in Jang’s work. The permanent show runs daily 10:00–18:00 (from April until 19:00), closed Mondays. Phone: 053-793-2022.
