Chuncheon Theatre Festival Re-elects Chair Lee Hae-gyu, Launches 2026 Season

Chuncheon Theatre Festival held its annual general meeting and 2026 kick-off at the Sejong Hotel on the 30th, where Lee Hae-gyu was reappointed chair for a three-year term. The event brought together local cultural leaders and artists to celebrate the festival’s achievements, including community outreach performances at a children’s hospital and a prison, a citizen theatre troupe’s national awards, and ongoing regular programs. The 2025 festival was rated top regional performing arts festival with 95.3 points and earned the highest audience satisfaction (14.6/15). Awards and commendations were presented to contributors and supporters. Chair Lee emphasized keeping theatre close to citizens’ everyday lives and making the festival a shared creative celebration, while Mayor Yuk Dong-han pledged city support ahead of Chuncheon hosting the 2027 National Theatre Festival.
