Two stage productions run in Seoul this month. The play An Old Man’s Dream follows art school owner Bom-hee as she meets Chun-ae, an elderly woman who wants her portrait; their ten lessons explore postponed dreams. The cast includes Kim Young-ok, Kim Yong-rim and Son Sook as Chun-ae, with Ha Hee-ra, Lee Il-hwa and Shin Eun-jung sharing the role of the art school director. It runs at LG Arts Center U+ Stage through March 22. The musical Dream Journey to a Peach Blossom Land (based on Choi In-ho’s novel 몽유도원도) dramatizes the love between Do-mi and A-rang and the jealous desire of King Yeo-gyeong, blurring dream and reality. Its score blends Western orchestra with traditional Korean vocal styles (jeongga and gu-eum), and visuals use ink-wash painting effects. Cast includes Lee Choong-joo, Kim Sung-sik, Yu-ria, Ha Yoon-joo, Min Woo-hyuk and Kim Ju-taek. It runs at the National Theater Haeoreum Theater through February 22.
