The Ministry of Science and ICT (과기정통부) has launched the third phase of TeX-Corps (텍스코어), a program that helps turn public laboratory technologies into market-ready deep-tech startups. After evaluating the previous two phases, the ministry will expand the program from 2 to 14 innovation teams (혁신단) and aim to place at least one team in each of Korea’s 17 provinces and metropolitan cities by 2030. In the first two phases, 435 of 864 exploration teams succeeded in founding startups, creating 3,910 new jobs and attracting about 713.2 billion KRW in follow-on investment; two companies even listed on KOSDAQ (코스닥). The expansion intends to provide nationwide market exploration opportunities for graduate students and public research institute researchers, leveraging a network of roughly 2,600 TeX-Corps alumni to accelerate deep-tech commercialization and national innovation goals.
