Samlip has released two Lunar New Year gift sets that celebrate Korean flavors and aesthetics: “Bokdam Eunhaengbok Manju,” filled with yuzu, black sesame and chestnut pastes, and “Jocheong Mo Yakgwa,” a traditional fried honey cookie made with Korean rice syrup, wheat, glutinous rice and sesame oil, finished with cinnamon and ginger. Packaging features imagery from the folk painting “hochakdo” (a tiger and magpie motif thought to bring good news and ward off bad luck) and uses a mother-of-pearl–inspired holographic technique drawn from the traditional craft “najeonchilgi” (lacquered mother-of-pearl inlay) for a luxurious look. The products are available in supermarkets and online, and Samlip has also reissued popular past holiday items to broaden choices for shoppers.
