Club Med confirmed it will open a new Sun resort, Club Med Borneo Kota Kinabalu, in mid-September, with bookings starting at the end of March. This is a Greenfield (newly built) project — the first direct resort design and construction by Club Med in Southeast Asia in 30 years — intended to blend design with the local natural and cultural environment and attract families, couples, and young adults. Trista Liu, CEO of Club Med Korea, said Korea is now the global leader in Club Med growth rate and conversion rate: while Korea’s overall outbound travel grew about 5% in 2025, Club Med Korea grew roughly 30%, and early 2026 figures show similar momentum. Liu credited success to focusing on quality experiences and emotional storytelling rather than price competition, and plans to bring Club Med-style events (like White Parties and “Crazy Signs”) to Seoul to share the brand’s energy before guests travel to resorts.
