The Daegu Kansong Museum unveiled a redesigned permanent exhibition featuring 31 works (40 pieces) including auspicious animal paintings of tigers, phoenixes and hawks, portrait and genre paintings by late Joseon masters (e.g., Shin Yun-bok, Kim Hong-do, Lee In-mun), calligraphy showing literary exchange between Joseon and Qing China, and ceramics such as celadon, buncheong, and white porcelain. The highlight is Owon Jang Seung-eop’s newly revealed masterpiece “Saminmun-nyeon” (三人問年, “Three People Asking About Age”), a painting likely used as a year-greeting print that depicts three elders boasting of their ages and is set amid jagged rocks evoking an immortal realm. The museum also offers immersive video works reinterpreting traditional subjects and a visible conservation lab explaining pigments used in Jang’s work. The gallery is open daily except Mondays, 10:00–18:00 (extended to 19:00 from April).
