The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will air a two-part documentary, 'K-GIM Revolution,' on January 28 via domestic and international broadcasters and OTTs to showcase the excellence of Korean gim (seasoned seaweed sheets). Michelin three-star chef Ahn Seong-jae hosts the 2 x 30-minute series, tracing gim's journey from production in Korea’s clean seas to global dining tables. Korea accounts for over 70% of the global market for gim, though it is often labeled as nori (Japanese term) or seaweed internationally. The ministry aims to popularize the Korean term 'gim' and highlight the product’s quality and culinary impact. The program will stream on Wavve domestically, air in the U.S. on January 28 (PT), and reach Europe and multiple Asian countries through History UK and Lifetime Asia in coming months. The ministry says it will continue promoting K-SEAFOOD to strengthen Korea’s position in global food markets.
