South Korea and Canada Strengthen Private Cooperation in Future Cars, Defense, Space and Rare Earths

South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy hosted a Korea-Canada Industry Cooperation Forum in Toronto to boost private-sector ties in advanced and strategic industries. The two-part event featured an auto industry session on green and autonomous vehicles and a CEO dialogue. Six MOUs were signed between Korean and Canadian firms covering steel, defense, space, artificial intelligence (AI), and rare earths, aiming to deepen collaboration across supply chains and secure strategic materials. Twelve Korean and nine Canadian company CEOs discussed joint projects and economic prospects. Minister Kim Jung-gwan said expanded cooperation will strengthen supply-chain stability, create jobs, and raise global competitiveness.
