The Daegu International Musical Festival (DIMF) is recruiting universities for the 20th DIMF University Student Musical Festival. Applications are open from Feb 9 to Mar 12, 2026. The long-running competition—founded in 2007 as Korea’s first university musical contest—lets student musical departments perform in major Daegu venues and emphasizes exchange and networking among participating teams. To reduce burdens and strengthen collaboration, performance grants for finalists have been raised: universities based in Daegu and Gyeongbuk will receive 12 million won, and institutions from other regions of Korea will receive 15 million won. A “networking forum” (교류의 장) for finalist teams will facilitate sharing production processes and building connections. Preliminary rounds run Apr 1–20 at venues designated by each team; at least one act must be performed live and gala or highlight formats are not allowed. Finalists will be announced on the DIMF website and contacted individually, with final performances held at major Daegu theaters during the festival. Awards include four group prizes (Grand Prize awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with a 10 million won prize, plus other DIMF awards) and two individual acting awards; winners will be revealed at the DIMF Awards on July 6.
