The Korean original musical Maybe Happy Ending, which won six Tony Awards, sold out all 112 performances in its 10th anniversary Seoul run, achieving an average seat occupancy of 103% and a paid occupancy rate of 100%. The production expanded from a 350-seat house to a 550-seat theater this season, upgraded set, lighting and video design, and maintained high audience ratings (average 9.8/10). Cast members rotated across roles—Oliver, Claire and James—bringing together original and new performers. Since its 2015 tryout and 2016 premiere, the show has collected numerous domestic awards and six trophies at the Tony Awards. Set in near-future Seoul, the story follows helper-bots (robot assistants) Oliver and Claire as they learn about love, loss and memory; the staging mixes futuristic cityscape with analog touches like turntables and cassette players. After Seoul, the production will tour 16 cities across Korea starting in Busan, bringing the same staging, music and lighting to regional audiences.
