Kim Jeong-hoon Elected Head of Gangwon Chapter of Korea Theatre Association

Kim Jeong-hoon, head of the Chuncheon branch, was elected the 15th president of the Gangwon Province chapter of the Korea Theatre Association at the chapter’s regular general meeting held on the 24th at Chiak Art Center in Wonju. The vote followed a contest with former chapter president Lee Seok-pyo. Delegates from eight local branches also discussed plans to ensure the successful hosting of the 2027 Korea Theatre Festival (대한민국연극제) in Chuncheon. Kim pledged rigorous preparation to make the festival a turning point for Gangwon theatre and to build a strong platform for local theatre artists to gain national exposure. At the same meeting, the 40th Gangwon Theatre Arts Awards were presented: Kim Min-kyung, CEO of Donghae Kim’s Company, won the grand prize; actor Kim Kyung-tae, leader of Chuncheon troupe ART-3, received a merit award; and newcomer Jin Yeon-ji from Taebaek’s Donggurami Theatre won the newcomer award.
