Haenam County in South Jeolla reported 9.848 million visitors in 2025, up 6.6% from 2024’s 9.237 million, driven by a recent rapid rise in tourism. The figures come from Korea Tourism Organization’s DataLab, using mobile data, GPS navigation searches, and credit-card spending. Average stay in Haenam was 1,447 minutes—well above the national local-government average—and 12.5% of visitors stayed overnight, higher than the national average. Top draws included Daehungsa (a historic temple), Ttangkkeut Observatory (the southernmost land point), and Pine Beach Golf Links, while navigation searches highlighted food and cultural-tourism interests. Officials say they aim to solidify Haenam’s status as a leading Korean destination and reach 10 million visitors.
