Louis Vuitton marks the 130th anniversary of its signature monogram, created in 1896 by Georges Vuitton to protect the brand from counterfeits. The LV initials with floral and star motifs became a lasting visual identity, protected by a 1897 patent and combining Western architectural motifs with Japanese family crest (mon) aesthetics. To celebrate, the maison will run a year-long campaign highlighting iconic monogram bags like the Speedy (1930), Keepall/Keypol (키폴), Noé (1932), Alma (1992) and Neverfull (2007), plus a new Monogram Anniversary collection in three capsules: Monogram Origin, VVN and Time Trunk. The Origin capsule revives the 1896 canvas look with traditional jacquard weaving and archival color palettes; VVN emphasizes vegetable-tanned natural leather; Time Trunk reproduces archival trunk imagery and metal details. The campaign and special editions illustrate how the monogram has evolved in materials and form while remaining instantly recognizable as Louis Vuitton’s symbol of craftsmanship and heritage.
