Korean Percussionist Gong Seong-yeon Wins First Korean Tromp Prize Runner-up, Schedules March Recital

Percussionist Gong Seong-yeon will give a recital on March 10 at Seoul Arts Center IBK Chamber Hall. Gong rose to international attention after winning the 2022 Stuttgart World Marimba Competition and becoming the first Korean to place second at the 2024 Tromp Percussion International Competition. Trained at Korea National University of Arts and other top Korean institutions, Gong has performed at major venues including Carnegie Hall (New York) and has appeared in artist series and festival stages across Europe. In 2022 she joined the Percussions de Strasbourg’s Ulysses project for a European tour and has been invited to festivals such as Time of Music, Gaudeamus, Warsaw Autumn and the Netherlands Bach Festival. Gong is currently the only Yamaha Global Artist in Korea and will perform works including Bach’s Violin Partita No. 2 (arranged for percussion) at the recital.
