K-fashion is lagging behind K-beauty in benefiting from the global K-culture boom. Musinsa’s rapid success in China—achieving combined online and offline sales of about 10 billion won and drawing over 100,000 visitors to a Shanghai shop within a month—shows potential if fashion leverages K-content (Korean popular culture) more strategically. Experts say Korea needs systematic collaboration between fashion brands and K-content from early product planning, stronger infrastructure like that which helped K-beauty (ODM: original design manufacturing) grow, and government support such as a dedicated K-fashion fund to support overseas expansion. Textile exports fell to $9.68 billion last year, underlining the urgency of policy and industry action.
