News of BTS’s first world tour in about four years triggered a sharp rise in travel searches to South Korea. Within 48 hours of the tour announcement, overseas searches for Korea climbed dramatically, led by Seoul (+155%) and especially Busan (+2375%). Fans quickly checked flights and hotels before tickets went on sale, with notable country-level increases from Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the U.S. The trend highlights “tour tourism” (travel driven by concerts) as a growing sector: a Hotels.com survey found 70% of respondents are more interested in traveling for live events and 43% would travel outside their city or country to see a favorite artist. Domestic searches also spiked — Seoul (+190%) and Busan (+3855%) — suggesting BTS’s tour could act as a cultural-tourism booster that benefits local economies and hospitality sectors.
