KOLMAR Korea signed a partnership with global chemical firm Eastman on the 16th to jointly develop sustainable, high-performance materials for color cosmetics. Eastman is known for advanced recycling technologies that break down plastic at the molecular level to make like-new feedstock. The two companies will work on replacing microplastics used in makeup with renewable, biodegradable alternatives — such as cellulose derived from wood and bio-based degradable polymers — that still deliver spreadability, adhesion, and long wear. KOLMAR plans to apply these eco-conscious materials in client products to boost competitiveness in global color makeup markets, especially in North America and Europe where environmental regulations are tightening. The collaboration aims to combine Eastman’s sustainability strengths with KOLMAR’s cosmetic know-how to offer next-generation makeup ingredients with both eco-friendliness and strong functionality.
