Chef Ahn Seong-jae: 'Black & White Chefs 2' Success Thanks to 100 Chefs, Boosting Interest in Dining Out

Chef Ahn Seong-jae, a judge on Netflix’s hit show "Black & White Chefs," said the series has increased public interest in the restaurant industry by introducing unknown but talented cooks and encouraging viewers to visit restaurants. The show pits celebrated "white-spoon" (백수저; elite chefs) against skilled but lesser-known "black-spoon" (흑수저) cooks. Season 1 and 2 topped Netflix’s non-English show charts, and Ahn credited the 100 chefs from season 2 for much of the popularity. Netflix announced season 3 will stream in Q4 with a new format: teams of four chefs working together in one restaurant. Ahn noted many chefs applied for season 3 and expressed excitement for the new season.
